This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, I work with students who are faced with several challenges both in the classroom and home. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
How can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary materials to succeed?
My students walk into my classroom every day full of life and ready to learn! They want to be in school because they know that education is what it takes to be successful.
My Project
Collaborative learning and flexible seating are a big part of our second-grade classroom. My students love to work with their peers and share ideas. Dry erase clipboards, along with dry erase markers, will allow them to work anywhere in the room, or even outside in our courtyard.
Lack of basic supplies in my classroom is a very real thing.
My second-grade scholars enter my classroom eager and ready to learn. They shouldn't have to worry about whether or not we will have enough pencils, glue, crayons, or scissors to complete our activities for the day. We do a lot of cutting and gluing, as well as coloring to help us reach mastery of the standards.
