Everyday we are exploring and learning something new. The bell rings, students work in groups and talk about the task at hand. They talk to help sort out a complicated task and find a way to make it simple. They make a plan and put it to use.
My kids are bright,hopeful and inquisitive They want to learn.
They ask questions and try to find the answer to those questions by asking more questions and through labs. Many come from blue collar homes and many more from divorced families. They have dreams of a bright future.
My Project
We will be using the supplies in class to create colorful displays of their work. Like other classes students will write and take notes. Sometimes the paper and other supplies will be taken home for doing homework. The large post-it notes will be used to create anchor charts and posters created by the students to explain mathematical concepts.
The dry erase markers and cleaning wipes are for special graffiti days. When the math is difficult adding in a little fun such as writing on desk creates a more relaxed atmosphere. This helps make learning fun. All of the paper, pens and pencils will be used to give students the optimum learning experience. We will be able to get organized with the use of Avery labels. When we decide to use technology my students will work math problems and be creative using the stylus pens. Their only limit will become their imagination.
Having needed supplies and extra to take home will allow students to concentrate on learning.
They will no longer have to worry if a backpack was left at dads house or if they can get someone to go to the store for supplies. My students will have the luxury of knowing they have everything they need to learn. They will see first hand that others care about their education and dreams.
