This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This fall, I will begin teaching first grade at a brand-new school with a brand-new group of students. Starting fresh in a new grade and environment is exciting and challenging for teachers and students. My classroom will be a place where my young learners feel safe, supported, and ready to grow. At this age, students are developing essential skills in reading, writing, and problem-solving. They learn best through engaging, hands-on activities and tools that help make learning fun and meaningful.

To give my new first-grade class the best start possible, I’m asking for dry erase markers, erasers, and primary journals, basic but essential supplies that support daily learning.

Dry erase markers and erasers will be used in centers, small groups, and whole-group lessons to help students actively participate and practice skills in a low-stress way.

Primary journals will support writing and drawing, helping students build confidence as they begin expressing themselves with words.

These supplies will help me create an organized and welcoming space where learning can take off from day one.
