Basic Supplies for an Extraordinary Start to the School Year!

Help me give my students basic supplies to start off the school year, including Kleenex, Post-it notes, Sharpie pens, a cart and bins to hold them, for a successful return to the classroom!

My Students

I teach at a Title I school in an underserved part of San Francisco. Many of the students are children of immigrants or live in the neighborhood's low-income housing development.

Though their families often have fewer resources, that doesn't stop my students' desire and ability to learn and achieve!

My students are curious, funny, sweet kids who can't wait to learn in third-grade. They are eagerly learning cursive, mastering their multiplication facts, reading chapter books, investigating live crayfish in science, making stop-motion videos about Native American life, typing up their stories on Chromebooks, and so much more.

My Project

With a full return to the classroom, my students need basic supplies to start off third grade strong! Post-it notes of all sizes, sharpies, and kleenex! Last year we had to adapt everything to digital versions, which were necessary but not ideal. Now students can read physical books and jot down their thoughts and questions on post-its as they are reading, then share with each other. (The Spanish-speaking girls in my class will love the Sofia Martinez early chapter books!) With the big Post-it chart paper, large colorful sticky notes, and Sharpie pens, I can co-create anchor charts with my students--they share their ideas on post-its--providing a visual record of their learning (reading, math, science, and more!) on the wall.

Finally, Kleenex is a necessity for the return to the classroom.

By maintaining all the hygiene and safety lessons we learned last year (using a Kleenex tissue, washing hands with soap, being respectful of others' space), more students will stay healthy and ready to learn so we can stay in the classroom all year!
