Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are energetic fourth graders in a dual language setting. They are hardworking learners that are striving to be bilingual and bi-literate in Spanish and English. Each day they walk into class ready to take on the day by being mindful of their thoughts and feelings, open to new things, and push themselves by learning from their mistakes.

My students persevere despite the challenges in their daily lives.

There are many adversities that my students face each day such as living in multi-family homes, 81% free and reduced lunch population, and limited access to necessities such as healthcare, after school opportunities, and safe spaces. Despite this, our community is rich with multiple cultures, languages, and ethnicities from around the world. We look out for each other and work together to ensure success for all students.

My strong and loving students are committed to their education not only for themselves, but for their families as well. I am lucky to have them as students and learn from their tenacious personalities.

My Project

All of the materials listed will be used by students through the school year. These are basic necessities so that we can focus on exploring and learning without having to stress about having enough materials.

I want all students to have equitable access to school materials.

Many students come to school not equipped with all the materials they need to be successful. I want them to feel cared for and having the security of knowing that their classroom has them covered.

We need glue for our many cut and paste and art projects. Sticky notes, flags, labels, and dividers to learn how to keep organized. Our small, desk whiteboards where we consistently practice math problems need new erasers. Clorox wipes, tissues, and soap because... germs!
