My Students
My students are diverse in many ways: they come from various ethnic, religious, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds. Though they start with varying degrees of academic prowess, they are hard working, engaged, and generally enthusiastic about learning. My school is located in a town that has seen great changes over the past few decades. The area was, for a long time, mostly populated by ranchers. Today, after the addition of many housing projects, my classroom is filled with students who reflect the great diversity of the Bay Area.
My Project
Students will use these spiral bound notebooks and colored pencils every day. They will complete most classwork in the notebooks. This way, all the work will be in one place.
Five Star Mead notebooks, with their student covers and high quality paper, are perfectly suited for my students.
Using notebooks in this way makes it easy for students to stay organized. Additionally, they don't generally lose their work. Thus, students are able to reference their work throughout the semester and have it when it comes time to study for the final.
Students can use the colored pencils to illustrate their work. Research shows that illustrating work helps students retain concepts better, as does color-coding work.
