Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am hoping to implement a basic needs pantry in my science class that includes feminine pads, a first aid kit, hand sanitizer, tissues, and face masks.

These items address various aspects of our personal health and hygiene, ensuring a safe and comfortable learning environment for my students.

The inclusion of feminine pads in the pantry recognizes the importance of menstrual health and provides a solution for menstruating students who may unexpectedly require them. By offering a readily accessible supply, I can create a supportive atmosphere that normalizes discussions around menstruation and eliminates potential embarrassment or stress. This not only promotes physical well-being but also fosters inclusivity and gender equity within my class.

A well-stocked first aid kit is vital for addressing minor injuries or medical emergencies that may occur during class activities. Having essential medical supplies readily available ensures prompt and appropriate care. This not only promotes student safety but also empowers them to take responsibility for their own well-being by encouraging self-care practices.

Hand sanitizer is an essential item in today's world, particularly in shared spaces such as classrooms. Providing hand sanitizer promotes good hand hygiene and reduces the risk of germ transmission, ultimately contributing to a healthier and safer classroom environment.

Tissues provide a convenient solution for students to manage allergies, sneezing, or runny noses without causing distractions or discomfort. Additionally, face masks have become essential in preventing the spread of respiratory illnesses.

Overall, the inclusion of these items in my science class' basic needs pantry not only meets immediate health and hygiene needs but also cultivates an environment that prioritizes student well-being!
