My English I students need basic supplies to make our classroom run smoothly. Our campus is home to nearly 1500 diverse learners. Most come from single-parent homes with low incomes.
Many of my students don't have adequate housing and food, so school supplies are low on the list of necessities.
I want them to come to school and not be worried that they aren't able to achieve because of their lack of essentials. All children should have a level playing field to start out on.
My Project
The supplies in this project, pencils, markers, highlighters, tape, will help our classroom immensely. My students will start each day knowing they have what they need to be successful and their learning will be impacted. I've seen before how not having necessary items to complete a task as other students do really gets into a learner's mind and hampers their progress. All students deserve to be free from the anxiety that comes from feeling less than, especially when it comes to education. Each and every day many of my learners worry about their futures and having necessary school equipment can just lessen their burdens.
