Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Phoenix students have heart and courage when faced with adversity, excel academically and socially, and care about their school and community. They are worthy of this generous cause and have worked hard to make their school and parents proud.

Phoenix Middle School was named by the state Department of Public Instruction as a "beating the odds" school for the third time in the 2015-2016 school year.

I am proud to have played a role in our school's eighth graders' success, which was to surpass 97-99% of the country's eighth graders in growth in order to close the gap and reach national averages in reading and math scores. We may be at a disadvantage economically, but our hard work and determination show how dedicated we are to reaching our fullest potential.

My Project

At first glance, this project may appear inconsequential, but these items will help foster a more effective learning environment in an age where kids are no longer engaged in a traditional classroom comprised of desks, chairs, textbooks, and pencils.

Speakers, keyboards, and carts may not sound thrilling to you, but they can mean the difference between reaching only a few lucky students sitting closest to classroom activities, or ensuring that every child has an equally enjoyable and effective learning experience.

In today's 21st century classroom, teachers rely on a wide range of educational approaches and devices to help foster rigorous and relevant instructional environments. As such, they require supplies and equipment that aren't always included in cash-strapped school districts. By helping to fund these "basic" items, you are making a difference in our classroom on a daily basis, with far reaching results.
