Dear kind and generous donor, I am a new music teacher for grades pre-kindergarten through eighth grade at a Chicago Public School in the Uptown neighborhood. As I have been organizing my classroom, I have found very little resources for my students. We do have very few rhythm instruments but none that are in good shape. After talking to the principal I have realized that there is no money in the budget for these resources. I want my students to not only be able to read and understand music, but to create it and perform it as well. In order to do this I am asking for recorders and rhythm instruments that will be very appreciated in my classroom. 30 soprano recorders for my fourth and fifth grade classes, 8 conga drums, 8 guiros, 8 wood blocks, and 8 tambourines which will be used by all grades. It is important to me that my students have the chance to really appreciate music during this time in their lives and these few resources will help make that possible.
