This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach the most loving, kind-hearted, and inspiring students in the world. They make me a better person just by knowing them. Every student has capabilities and talents that I help foster and bring out in them. Many students who attend our school are from low-income housing and have their own personal struggles and obstacles. I want school to be a place where they do not have to worry and can get access to anything and everything they need to be successful. Our students are extremely inclusive, as we pride ourselves on being a big family. Students are enthusiastic to learn about their classmates and are able to relate to their backgrounds and culture.

My class consists of 150 extraordinary students.

Of my 150 students, 60 have IEPs which include learning disabilities, Autism, emotional disorders, speech and language impairment, and physical disabilities. Many students in my class perform at a level 1 for both reading and math but are eager to learn and challenge themselves every day.

My Project

Although these are basic school supplies (pens, tissues, Clorox wipes), they are luxuries to me and my students. I give out pens and pencils every day to about 20 kids every day. I don't ever want my students to have to worry about not being prepared, which is why I stock up on these supplies. I included hand sanitizer so students can clean their hands. Clorox wipes are essential as they will help to keep desks clean and graffiti-free. Tissues are salient in my classroom. I have 4 boxes in every corner of the room so students do not have to go far to get a tissue. I never want my students to leave the room for a pen, pencil, tissue, or hand sanitizer. In addition, I included markers and colored pencils so my students can work on projects, not only in my class, but they can also take home these supplies since many do not have markers or colored pencils at home. With your help, my students will know there are people out there, besides me, who care about them and want them to succeed.
