Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are starving for knowledge. I teach in a Title I school, where the funds are almost none. This year our neighborhood got hit by Harvey. Some lost a few things, some much more than that, but what we did not lose was the hope, energy and desire to move forward.
Even with these challenges, my students come every day and are ready to learn.
They feel so proud when they get a good grade or a compliment. I am sure they will take advantage of any opportunity that comes their way.
My Project
My students need basic classroom supplies. After Hurricane Harvey the focus or our parents is to rebuild their normal life. As the year goes by, and school supplies are being depleted or damage, we are becoming very creative with our resources.
Providing student with their basic classroom supplies such as notebooks and pencils will help them become more grounded and with a sense or normalcy.
We are still using our notebooks to record our data and observations, practice our mathematical skill and writing our review to study for the state test.
Next year we are still suffering from the devastating losses from the Hurricane. I would like to be prepare for the end of this year, my summer school, and the beginning of next year.
All of us can play a role in rebuilding the lives of those impacted by this storm, our students especially.
