Help me give my students scientific calculators for applying math to physical quantities and chargers for their laptops so that we can analyze this data digitally.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Reid's classroom raised $179

My Students
Our school serves the diverse community of Portland, Maine. Among our 932 amazing students, 34% are language minority, meaning their first language isn't English. 27% are categorized as English Language Learners and the student body represents 70 different countries from all over the globe!
My classroom hosts students learning Physics.
Students come from just starting out in science to advanced learning levels. Some need extra help with their math skills, some with organization, and some need access to advanced learning opportunities.
My Project
In a hierarchy of needs for the classroom, these supplies would form the foundation so that we can reach our loftier learning goals. Having these things in the classroom will reduce a learning barrier and give students access to education.
When we calculate velocity from distance and time, we need to retain significant figures, which sometimes requires us to use scientific notation.
The trigonometric functions of these calculators will allow us to analyze vector quantities.
Students use laptops, but they don't always keep track of their chargers. Having a classroom set of chargers will keep me from sending students to the library to use the computers there.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
