My students need pencils, erasers, Kleenex, soap to wash their hands, an easel for their lessons, and an area rug to sit on, so they do not have to sit on the tile floor.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My class is the most amazing group of students. It consists of 36 4th graders in a 98% African American community. We come from a fun loving and rigorous environment to enrich our students with differentiated instruction to benefit them to their greatest potential. I cater to the needs of all of my students whether it be academically, socially, financially, or psychologically.
We want to create and maintain success with our students, who are part of such a high risk area in Chicago, Illinois.
I want to ensure that socioeconomic status, race, or any other barriers do not interfere with the success of my students.
My Project
These are materials that are basic necessities in my every day classroom. I feel that these are essential items to make my students successful and to help them stay healthy. I have items that help with their hygiene, such as Kleenex, soap, and Lysol wipes. I also have items that we need every day in the classroom such as the pencils, erasers, and a carpet for them to sit on instead of the floor. This will make a difference because I want them to feel comfortable and taken care of while they are at school. Without this, they currently sit on a tile floor. I have also added an easel to help with organization of our anchor charts since I teach everything on the floor with my students. The students will also have a place to come up for interactive reading and writing to ensure gradual release success! All of these are items I find essential to maintaining success and comfort in my classroom. Thank you so much for your consideration! :)
