This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The supplies you have in your classroom make all of the difference in the world! Without the basics, every day is a challenge to give the students the hands-on learning experience that makes learning meaningful and engaging.

Hands-on activities bring what could be mundane to life and that is what we strive for in the classroom, despite the daily challenges faced by our inner-city students.

Having items readily available like markers, crayons, scissors, tape, index cards are just a start of the materials we use daily when creating in our classroom. Many times, our students don’t have the money to get these supplies on their own. We also use things like table cloths to cut up when creating projects for math, science and STEM. We use the laminating pouches to help preserve student work and Bankers Boxes to build inside of for our Museum Designs.

Asking our students and families for help with these supplies is a financial burden, so we’d like to help take that off of their plates at what is a stressful time for our parents . We also want to make sure every student has equal access to new supplies. When the basic needs of students are met, anything in the classroom is possible in all subject areas.
