Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are just plain awesome! Regardless of their daily struggles they always prove to persevere! For many of my students, our classroom is their second home, even as uts moved into the virtual world. It is their safe space where they can escape the many pressures of adolescence and just be themselves.
Rather than the easy route of giving up, they choose to come together, to push themselves and to persevere, no matter how far they are behind academically.
They are dedicated students who continuously push themselves to be better.
100% of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch based on their socioeconomic status. Once you get them excited about a topic or strategy, they are totally engaged in what we are doing. I want to give them that spark for all that they do, which will become a challenge as we transition to the remote setting. My goal is to set them up for success by providing them with the tools they need to access the curriculum effectively at home during the global pandemic.
My Project
Your donation will allow me to give my new middle school students basic classroom needs/tools to be worry free, productive, effective learners.
This project includes Kleenex, pencils, dry erase project materials, markers, a binder for EACH student and large Post-it easel paper that students can use to be creative learners who will show evidence of learning on chart paper that will easily be placed and revisited in the classroom to help themselves and others.
Having these basic needs will eliminate an additional worry/need for students and their families. It will also help keep us in school together in good health, because less materials will have to be shared.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
