Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a Special Education teacher in a low income, high poverty neighborhood in San Antonio Texas in a Title I district. I provide direct special education services to the students on my campus.
My students all have different cognitive needs who depend on small group instruction and differentiate accommodations.
The kids are an inquisitive and energetic bunch who encourage me to strive in creating a fun learning environment. My goal is to do everything I can to help them become actively engaged in learning every day.
My Project
This project will be used to teach our students in special education the importance of recycling paper.
The students will learn recycling facts, through hands on activities using a paper shredder.
The lessons will be geared in making new paper from used paper to see how recycling works. The students will understand the real world overview of the recycling paper process.
The student will be able to use the shredder as a tool to make their learning fun. They will also be able to use the mini magnetic boards as a replacement from traditional paper and pencil in demonstrate their learning.
Overall, this project will aid the students in using basic classroom tools for hands on activities.
