Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach students at a small middle school from a rural tight-knit town. Still, my students come from a variety of backgrounds and with various experiences. As a history teacher, it is my goal to celebrate all my students and the differences that make up our wonderful, vibrant community.
I believe my students, like all students, are our future leaders, and those that will change our country for the better.
I believe it is my job, alongside all other teachers, to prepare them to do so!
My Project
In order for students to not only participate, but be challenged and engaged at school, students require the tools. While many of these tools are basic--markers, clipboards, pencils--they are also in fact essential. Many students come to school without a pencil in their backpack. This should not hold them back from participating in their education. Thus, many teachers, myself included, have bought the pencils...and markers, sissors, paper, gluesticks and so on. While I will never not give my students these tools, it would be amazing for other like-minded individuals to help put a pencil (and much more) in my students' hands.
