This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students of my class in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan are amazing. There are 30 hard-working, multicultural, and eager students in this top 4th grade class. Ours is a Title I school and all of the students in my class qualify for free or reduced price lunch. All of the students speak Spanish in their homes and English at school. My students are Dominican, Mexican, and Puerto Rican, and Ecuadorian.
Simply speaking, my students are exceptional and deserve the best education, opportunities, and technology.
My Project
My students need some basic appliances to help modernize our classroom. My students eat lunch at 1:00 p.m. every day and become hungry throughout the morning. They can bring snacks into class to eat before lunch but these snacks often do not stay fresh. My students need a compact refrigerator in order to keep their daily snacks cold and fresh and also to keep certain ingredients cold to use for science projects. They need a microwave in order to heat up their classroom snacks and also to use in science projects. Finally, they need a hand-vacuum to assist in keeping our classroom clean and beautiful. Our goal is to have the best classroom in New York City with every available resource. Thank you!
