Baseball on the Beach!

Help me give my students the chance to play the sport they love while also being able to experience Orange Beach, AL.

My Students

My players are learning the game of baseball and how skills learned on the field translate into real-life situations. I feel this game provides a great opportunity to help our student-athletes grow as young men.

They represent our school with pride and play the game with passion.

Last season our team went 8-19 and graduated many of our players. This season we have a new coach and are working hard to overcome the adversity and obstacles of the past.

School funding has been drastically cut and in turn that affects our student-athletes. On average, districts received 42.1% of their funding from the local and county revenue, but our school receives only 30% from these sources. The low socio-economic level of the community brings about many challenges. Over 54% of our students qualify for free lunches. The demographic breakdown in our school includes approximately 45% Native American, 44% White, 4% Hispanic, and 7% other ethnicities.

My Project

Students on the baseball team will be given the opportunity to see and experience the beach at Orange Beach, AL. They will also be able to play in a baseball tournament against teams from across the United States at the same time. This will be a great time for them to play the sport they love and also experience competition on a different level than they are used to in their home state.

This type of competition will help them expand their talent as baseball players and ultimately make them better players.

These student-athletes invest so much of their time practicing and preparing for games. This trip would be a great rewarding experience for them. Most students come from a lower economic background and would not have the opportunity to travel and experience Orange Beach, AL any other way. This would be the trip of a lifetime for them!
