My Project
Hey everybody, and welcome to year 2! I grew up just 20 minutes from where I am now teaching and am excited to give back to the community that raised me.
Due to financial limitations, many of my students are unable to obtain the basic school supplies (e.g., pencils, paper, notebooks, folders, erasers, pens) needed to be engaged with each day's lesson and homework.
Given this, your generosity would make a world of difference in my classroom.
The 5th grade at our school is departmentalized this year, so I am teaching math and science to 2 different classes throughout the day. However, I am interested in teaching not just math and science, but life skills as well. The color-coded folders (one color assigned to each of my classes) will be crucial in teaching students how to keep their classwork and homework organized. Index cards will be useful both for labeling bins of manipulatives and for student participation during activities. I will be teaching on the whiteboard, so I will need markers, erasers, and lots of cleaner. Copy paper is a must, and the tug of war rope is for a game I invented to teach students about inequalities (the bigger number always wins!!)
