About My Students

Revolutions can mean upheaval, chaos and negative actions among the crowds. Our revolution is to advance positive ideas, feelings and relationships among the students at our school. The Revolution Movement will bring about good changes. Elizabeth, Sabrina, Vivica,Tyra and Lizzie will be our guides.

During the summer of 2015, a strong group of young ladies joined together with a fierce determination to change our school. They received assistance from two of our strongest leaders, a counselor and a dean-Ms.Green and Ms.Foster to become their facilitators. The goal-to change the current mindset and hearts of students at Bartram High School. Why? The students needed to combat difficult problems stemming from an epidemic of ills so often found in urban settings. One issue-building peer relationships by solving conflicts, initiating peer mentoring and trying to solve problems through building friendships and being role models. The young ladies in charge of the group were determined to accomplish their goals. They built a coalition of eager staff and students to create and implement their ongoing program. Nothing would stop their efforts to build a consensus among students to help one another.

With the goal of creating a culture of understanding among students and staff, the Bartram Revolution Movement will prepare all participants to prepare for real world situations and future occupations. Students will be able to practice reasoning skills which will allow them to solve conflicts, settle differences and build positive feelings among students. Within the group, the students can express themselves in written and verbal manners leading to roles within the community at large. They might decide to engage in community building activities, attending higher levels of education and acquiring jobs which require elevated social skills. Problem solving will also be in the realm of possibilities with student leaders being able to bring students together during times of conflict and during times of academic exploration.

In Their Own Words

We want to make a difference at Bartram High School. We are a small group, but we are strong and want to change the school. We have our own room, and we are creating this space to be a place for students to come together on projects, discuss current ideas and problems and give hope to students who feel there is no hope. We will bring all together to help this year's students as well as future students. Our revolution will help students to get along and solve problems without fighting one another

We are the Revolution Movement. We-the students-make our own decisions and get together to make plans. Our adult facilitators-Ms. Green and Ms. Foster-are simply guides and people to bounce ideas off of during sessions. They want us to think for ourselves, so they help plant the idea seed, and we help it to grow. They help provide sunshine, nutrients and water, but we are ultimately responsible for our own responses to situations within the school.

We want to solve problems without conflict or fighting. We want there to be a room where students can work together to create art work, develop skills to get along, and to build relationships between students. It will spread around the school and make the school a better place to learn and prepare for college. We can do this and spread the Revolution to other schools and younger students. Parents and guardians can assist with coming to the school for special activities.Long live the Revolution!
