This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students have been loving the movement and barred instrument activities this year and these are some of the best!

This book by Phyllis Weikart, Teaching Music and Dance, is considered one of the best resources for folk dances from around the world.

On most days, I have to field questions about when we are going to do one of our dances that we learned earlier in the quarter. I am excited to learn more to share with the school as we continue to explore music and dances from different parts of the globe.

The music in the books will be used for general music in grades 2 - 6 as we explore more arrangements for barred instruments. My students have been enjoying everything we've done so far and I'm looking forward to some new material.
