My Students
I teach an energetic group of students with special needs in an urban Title I charter school in Baltimore City. They want to learn so much about the world around them and what's beyond the walls of our classroom. They come to school every day excited and ready to learn.
My students' disabilities range from Autism to Learning Disabilities and I find that the more hands-on and interactive learning can be, the more beneficial it is to my students.
Due to their disabilities, I am constantly changing up my teaching practices and finding new and exciting ways to reach and challenge my students without having them become frustrated and give up.
This year, I am teaching a group of 1st-4th graders in a pull-out setting, where I am helping them access the general education curriculum while also helping fill in the many learning gaps that they currently have.
My Project
It's that time of the school year where we start to run low on supplies. Spring break just ended, and when I came into my classroom, I realized that we're running low on the bare necessities in my classroom.
My students go through pencils and glue sticks so fast!
I work with different grade levels and students from different classrooms and so they are all working on different projects and assignments throughout the day. Because of this, they go through glue sticks and pencils VERY fast. I am constantly replacing them, and I am now running very low. This project will help me stock back up for the rest of the school year (and next year as well) to make sure that my students have the simplest of supplies!
