We are a small (300 kids) alternative high school in an extremely conservative section of Arizona. Our kiddos deserve to read every book ever written, and deserve to know the power of all books, including banned ones. While we read books like The Kite Runner and The Poet X (banned), I'd love for them to have an additional section of the classroom where they can feel safe enough, comfortable enough, to pick up a banned book and dive in. If nothing else, this Banned Book Corner of the room will be a safe haven, an inspirational space for contemplation, reading, writing, or simply unwinding that features LED lights and comfortable seating like the inflatable chair.
