This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing! Most of them have been at the school since kindergarten, and our school is special because we can really develop a close relationship with each individual student as they grow up.

As a school with a bilingual program, students are immersed in rigorous instruction in both English and Spanish!

There are numerous benefits to being bilingual and students work very hard to access the curriculum despite it being a challenge. We have both Spanish-dominant and English-dominant speakers, which means that 100% of our students are second language learners!

My Project

In 5th grade, we have some growing students who use a lot of energy while they are learning and being active in classes like gym and recess. Often students will complain of stomach pains, when really they just didn't eat a good breakfast and/or lunch. Having snacks readily available will help students stay in class. They will also have better focus with the added energy they get from the snacks. The band-aids are very helpful since we have some instances where students get paper cuts or things of that nature. Having band-aids and Neosporin available will help deal with the problem at the moment and also the students will stay in class instead of going to the nurse's office.

This will cut down some trips to the nurses office and help students get through the long afternoon with some snacks to energize.
