I am a music teacher in a rural farming community located about 30 miles west of Stockton, California. The school district is small, with two elementary schools and one middle school. I am the band teacher for all three schools. During the last 3 years, our music program has tripled in size, and we are reaching many more students in our modest community. My students are eager to learn, and they are willing to practice daily at home. My students put forth a great effort at school every day, and it shows!
Many of my students cannot afford to purchase the instruments they play.
They rely on the school district to provide the instrument and supplies for them. Unfortunately, our district has recently had difficult financial troubles, and cannot put money into the instrument repair fund.
My philosophy is that every child who wants to experience creating music, deserves the chance to learn. This means providing instruments for students that need them. To keep up with the increasing demand, we need to repair and replace many items each summer. Please, help provide the music students of our district with these basic needs and keep our music program going. Thank you!
My Project
We need to repair several instruments each summer, including replacing worn down and broken parts. We need instrument cases, so students can take the instruments home and practice. We need mouthpieces and neck straps for the saxophones, so students can use the instruments we have in our inventory. And, we need cleaning rods, cork grease, and valve and slide oils to keep the instruments in good working condition.
We need these items so every student that wants to play an instrument will have a fully outfitted instrument available to them.
Therefore, your assistance is needed! Please help provide for our students. Thank you!
