This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach fifth and sixth grade instrumental music. Many of my students are from low income families and have not experienced any sort of formal music training outside of my classroom.

These students are eager to learn everything that I throw at them; they are kind, respectful, and brilliant.

They're incredible, always eager to learn and develop their musical skills and I can't wait to get them on instruments as soon as possible this school year. They deserve the best education, and I plan to do my all to make that happen for them.

My Project

Everything included in this "Band Essentials" project directly correlates to the success of the band program. Cork grease, valve/slide oil, and swabs allow the students to keep the instruments clean and working properly. Without access to these essentials, the instruments would deteriorate quickly, many more minor and major repairs would need to be done, and that could result in some students not having instruments at all times.

This is especially important for brand new instruments.

The corks on the clarinets, and the pads on the woodwind instruments have not yet formed to the instruments, so they require quite a lot of grease. My goal is to keep the students well equipped for success throughout the entire school year.
