Help me give my students a chance for one on one training for handling, passing, shooting skills, and the love for being active with a class set of basketballs, footballs, and soccer balls.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What I love about my middle school students is that they sometimes think they're "too cool for school" and if they can't be on their phones, NOTHING is fun. It's these same students that act like little kids having a blast when we play a sport....any sport!!
They'll never admit it, but they crave structure and I use that with them when outlining the rules , regulations, and health benefits of all the sports we play.
It's cool to see when they hold each other accountable for trying to "bend" the rules!!!
My Project
Many of my students watch professional sports but lack the understanding of the rules for the various games as well as the different training needed to prepare for each sport. The equipment gained from your donations will allow students to learn and master the rules for basketball, soccer, and football. They will also train for each sport during the school year. Students will then create teams to compete with one another. They will designate referees from their peers and create mock tournaments. This will continue for each sport until all sports are mastered. Students will then prepare for an end of the year Sports A Thon.
