Balloons Over Broadway Floats and Parade

Help me give my students a fun STEM experience to go along with the book Balloons Over Broadway! We will use large wiggles eyes, attach items with scotch tape and draw things with sharpie markers.

My Project

After reading Balloons Over Broadway my students will create their own balloon float. I would like to blow the balloons up with helium (which was not available from any of the vendors but is the most expensive part of this activity), then they will use wiggle eyes, markers, and assorted art supplies to create their balloon float. Once we are finished we will parade through the halls of our school for the other grades. This experience will enable our students to have a purpose to reading the story, create and execute a plan for their balloon, and then show off their finished project. My goal for this project is to give the students a hands-on experience to go along with the book and to get to show off for the other students in our school. My students are extra special to me! They have worked so hard this year and I feel they deserve an opportunity to have some fun learning experiences.
