Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach second grade, at a small neighborhood school in Texas. My class consist of a wide range of academic levels (Special Needs to GT). The majority of my students are on free and reduced lunch. They are provided breakfast everyday with the help from a Federal program. Most of my students come from households with only one income where they struggle to make ends meet. Or are homeless and multi families are living together in one house.

My students deserve the best opportunities possible.

With the help of DonorsChoose.org, I am hoping to provide them with engaging hands-on activities and ways to make the activities accessible to all.

My Project

The only time they get to run around and play is at recess. Why not provide them opportunity to enjoy the field and basketball court to play different games and activities at recess with their friends. From football, soccer, 4-square, and jump rope. Many of my students don’t have different types of sports of equipment to explore with at home. Why not allow them to be able to choose from various activities to play instead of just playing on the playground everyday.

Lets exercise their minds and bodies at school.

Hopefully, recess will become a time they will enjoy and remember having fun with their classmates.
