Balancing Ballerinas in Need of Equipment

My Students

The dance students at my school are a diverse bunch of students with interesting, imaginative, and exciting ideas about life they wish to share. These dance students are a creative group who deserve the high-end materials to match their highly imaginative choreography.

We are often unable to purchase all of the materials we want for performances or for daily classes, including various types of technology.

Our students come from a variety of economic backgrounds and our district is unable to fund projects beyond the most basic needs for classrooms.

My Project

My students are young, developing dancers who are trying to understand how to use their growing bodies in dance class. One of the most important concepts for them to learn and understand is how to use their core strength for balance and control.

We are requesting balance boards which will help give my students a fun, tangible way to learn how to engage their core muscles and become stronger dancers.

By creating a fun and safe environment, these middle school dancers will be able to work on core development and muscle control in a positive way. The challenge of the balance boards will give them various, individual goals to work towards while also keeping the classroom fun. These boards are also great because they are adjustable, allowing me to meet the needs of the various levels of movers in my classroom.
