Help me give my students Bosu Balls and enough resistance exercise bands for the whole class; they will help us improve our balance, get stronger and become more confident movers!
Our students come from a variety of different economic and ethnic backgrounds. Currently, our childhood obesity rates are high and we need to help our students make changes that will shape their future. This is a small community with dreams to do big things!
We believe an active body leads to a healthy mind.
Our students need more opportunities to be physical activity every day. Outside of school, many students do not have opportunities to be active and they thrive with each new challenge presented them at school. Whether they are being physically active during PE, open gym or after school activities our students enjoy the opportunity to move their bodies. We are located in a rural town and are a very close-knit community. Many of the families in our community rely upon the school district to provide life-changing opportunities like these for their children.
My Project
These materials will allow our us help my students to get stronger. Each class we do warm up and strength exercises and with these materials we will be able to add more resistance exercises to help build our strength. We will also be able to work on improving our balance with these materials.
Strong students are confident students.
Our students have faced many challenges over the last 2 years and we have seen many students dealing with anxiety and depression. One of the best ways to combat anxiety and depression is with exercise. The more tools we have to help our students exercise and get stronger, the more tools they will have to deal with the daily stresses they face.
We are fortunate to have our students back in school for in person learning. If we have to pivot to virtual at home instruction we can use these resistance bands with our students during such a time.
