My Students

Kindergarten sets the stage for a lifetime of learning, and I want to encourage the innate inquisitive natures of my eager young students who come to school everyday full of curiosity, questions, and boundless energy.

Our class is comprised of 25 extremely diverse Kindergartners, representing 13 distinct ethnicities.

I love that we are truly a melting pot, and this helps lay the foundation for the children to learn acceptance of everyone.

Our school spans Transitional Kindergarten through fifth grade. More than half of my class are English Language Learners. We are ethnically and linguistically diverse with hugely varying academic levels and interests.

My Project

During independent work time, when I am working with individuals or small groups, it is very difficult for my students to stay focused. They like to roam around the classroom and expend excess energy.

These balance balls will help my students get their fidgets out while still maintaining concentration and give them an opportunity to get their work done.

I've seen these work wonders in a colleague's classroom, and now I want to start acquiring them for my kindergartners.

Of course my special needs students will benefit, but these will be fantastic for all of my students and give them options when it comes time to work independently. I'll start asking for two and work my way up from there!
