My Project

Learning about fractions can be abstract. Telling kids 1/2 is more than 1/3 is not as effective as showing them. With this project, I plan to teach kids to bake as a way to learn about measurement and fractions.

Baking is a cognitively engaging activity that combines tactile exploration with literacy and quantitative learning.

With baking, the knowledge of fractions and measurements takes on a whole new meaning. When kids see the real-life applications of these mathematical concepts, they become even more engrossed in the learning process.

Our class already has a breadmaker, the Luxury Bamboo Bread Slicer with Knife will help the student learn how to appropriately partition the bread into equal slices. The mason jars will be used to store the measured ingredients for easy use when baking. The Desktop File Organizer, will help keep all our recipes neatly organized and easily accessible. Plus it is always great when you can eat your math work! Thank you for investing in our kids.
