Baile Folklórico Dancing in High School!

Help me give my students traditional folkloric dance skirts, sombreros, and shirts to perform traditional Mexican dances for our school and community.

My Project

As an English teacher and advocate to support students' culture, I started a Folkloric Dance Club (Baile folklórico). We focus solely on dancing traditional folkloric Mexican dances. We are in desperate need of traditional skirts, sombreros, and shirts for our dancers.

Students will use these clothing items to perform for our high school in April 2024 and for our community thereafter!

Students will also utilize this clothing for practice during lunchtime. These clothing items will stay within our Folkloric Dance Club for years and years to come!

In our Folkloric Dance Club, students learn about Mexican culture, tradition, and language and build a community of respect, collaboration, and trust. Our club is open and welcoming to students of all cultural backgrounds! We are grateful that our club has been to over 20 students. I'm hopeful our club will grow an established and positive relationship with our community so our community has access to cultural dance performances!
