Bailamos, Cantamos y Escuchamos! We Dance, Sing and Listen!
My students need exposure to the many languages from around the world. Through music and movement we will listen and move to multi cultural music, listen to stories in Spanish and act out our favorite stories.

I have a classroom of 20 energetic, curious fun-loving 3-4 year old students who love to explore new things especially a new language. I teach students from a diverse racial background: Latino students(from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Guatemala , Columbia), African American. Caucasian, and Asian students but one thing they all have in common is the desire to learn a new language.
When students enter my classroom, half of them only speak their native language which is Spanish.
The other half of students are monolingual and only speak English. Through music and movement, play and countless hours of bilingual read-alouds my students naturally learn a second language. They are not afraid or intimated by the language because we build a sense of community in my classroom in which we are a family and learn to trust and respect one another they feel comfortable to try new things.
What I enjoy best is seeing my students interact with one another and not allowing a language barrier to get in their way of having fun. As they first begin to learn the language, they use simple words to communicate as they continue to hear and learn the language they use 2-3 word phrases.
Through the use of the cd player my students will be able to enjoy music and stories from around the world. The children enjoy singing and moving to music from around the world . The cd player will aid the children by allowing them to listen to Spanish stories on cd. The puppets will help build their vocabulary by allowing students to retell and act out stories building relationships with fellow classmates. Through music and story telling, I will be building a classroom rich in language and a sense of belonging for my students who are hesitant when trying new things.
