This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Please help us buy 2 gallon Ziplock bags to protect our library books. With your help each student will be given a bag to keep their library books in at the start of the year. The bag will also be labeled with their barcode to empower our students use self checkout. Then each week students will continue to use this bag. I started this program two years ago and our number of damaged books has dropped dramatically. No longer are books being returned weekly with raisins mushed into the spines or banana juices on the cover. This year we've had probably 20 damaged books compared to 100s in years past. With less damage, less families stress about fines and more students enjoy books!
