Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I absolutely love how resilient, curious, and capable my 8th-grade students are. Despite the challenges they face outside the classroom, they show up every day ready to learn, connect, and grow. Many of them come from low-income households, yet they bring a sense of humor, empathy, and determination that inspires me daily.

Our school is an A-rated campus and ranks second in the district—a reflection of the hard work and potential our students bring to everything they do.

I want to build on that momentum by creating a welcoming, inclusive space through a reading club where students can fall in love with books and find their voices.

Each item in the welcome bag—bookmarks, journals, pens, stickers, and small book-themed surprises—is designed to help students feel seen and valued. The button maker will help us to identify and unite as a group. These materials aren't just fun; they help build a sense of belonging and spark enthusiasm for reading. With your help, I can give them a warm, exciting start to our reading adventure.
