My Students

I teach kindergarten at a very large, rural public school. About 48% of our school is economically disadvantaged. I have been teaching at this school since my 3rd grader started Kindergarten. The kids, my first year at WHPS, no matter if they were in my class, are like an extended part of my class! I know all of their names and have seen them grow into lifelong lovers of learning and excelling in after-school sports!

These 9-year-olds had their 8 U year of baseball taken away from them due to COVID-19.

This motivated me to create the 9U Renegades. Our team is a group of 3rd graders who are all great friends and like to have fun! These boys love to play baseball! They want to learn the fundamentals which will carry them through their high school years!

I want to equip the RENEGADES with the tools and baseball necessities to make them all successful as teammates and young men!

My Project

Our team was formed shortly after COVID-19 took away their 8U baseball spring season. 8U to 9U is a huge difference. 8U is coach/machine pitch where 9U is player pitch.

Our kids are a group of young boys who love to have fun and play a little competitive baseball.

They want to get better, but by having fun doing so! They ALL want to learn more than one position on the field! Many travel organizations in our area “place” you in a position and no one else gets to learn that position. The coach's kids are the ones who get to learn and play the important positions! Our philosophy is that ALL POSITIONS are important and our children are 9! They should be learning all positions!
