I teach a precious, diverse group of students. I love that my students come to school each day eager to learn new things and challenge themselves. They are dedicated to their schoolwork and making teaching fun!
My school is 91.8% poverty, yet my students come to school every day eager to learn and grow.
I adore teaching my students! My students come from a very mixed background socially, ethnically, and economically. Yet, they mix together as a classroom group beautifully.
My Project
I coach a girls' running club group at my high poverty middle school. Most of my girls have never run before - simply because they had never been encouraged to. In May of 2018, my first group of girls completed their first 5K! They cannot wait until the spring season starts again in February 2020!
Many of my girls carry their running shoes and clothes either in plastic grocery bags or stuffed in their book bag.
They also do not have bottles to keep water in while we run in the hot South Carolina weather.
For our spring 2020 running club I want to get them each a bag to put their running clothes in. Imagine going through your book bag, trying to get out a notebook, and your running clothes keep falling out! A running bag would greatly help my girls.
I also want to provide each girl with a water bottle to keep water in while we run. We train in the spring in South Carolina when it can get very hot and water is essential to keep them hydrated.
