Bacterial Culture Lab Group Project

Help me give my students a chance to work together to collect bacterial samples from various objects around school to predict and analyze bacteria levels.

My Project

Kaimuki Middle School students are sure to be highly engaged getting hands growing bacteria using the petri dishes as learning experiences move away from the digital simulations. During the Covid-19 pandemic students rarely got to engage in hands on group projects like this bacterial culture lab project.

Developing skills in all eight of the scientific and engineering practices, students will also develop social and emotional skills while working in small groups.

This introduction into microbiology will cause students to have a different perspective about the objects they touch after seeing the bacteria they culture using the 30x microscope. The "Teacher'sPayTeachers" Virus and Bacteria bundle will extend the learning into various cellular functions and life science.
