My Students
It's hard to believe that in this day and age children do not have access to a computer. In my kindergarten class most of the children get their first exposure to a computer.
My students live in one of the roughest neighborhoods on the Southside of Chicago.
Many of the children live at the poverty level and are exposed to gangs and violence on a regular basis. Our school is a sanctuary for the students where they can come not only to learn, but to feel safe and loved. It is my job as an educator to provide a strong foundation for learning. Kindergarten is where is all begins!
My Project
These netbooks will provide a rich teaching tool for all students no matter what their capabilities may be. Netbooks are a great tool for teaching differentiated instruction in small groups and learning centers. It is important to make learning exciting and computers are a great way to get students engaged. Often the children are so busy playing games that they don't even realize how much they are learning. Netbooks are also a fabulous testing tool for those children who are struggling.
It is my wish to have 2 working computers in my classroom so that I can provide a wealth of knowledge to my students.
My students deserve to have the opportunity to learn and keep up with the ever changing world of technology. I want to provide my students with tools that will help them be successful and productive learners in the 21st century.
