it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The iPad2 is a tool. A powerful tool to keep my students engaged in the core curriculum. A curious tool that can teach my students about the world and get them excited. A differentiated tool that can help my students access the curriculum at individualized levels. It's the future!
I currently teach in a third grade classroom working with high-achieving and gifted students.
Our school received Title 1 funds and many students come from impoverished and immigrant backgrounds. My classroom has one computer for student use. The students want more access to computers for research. In addition, they would like to connect with the computer activities that mirror our reading and math books. Most importantly, they lack the technological knowledge of other students in more affluent parts of the country. I want to change that.
My Project
Technology provides students the opportunity to develop tools and skills they need in order to explore and succeed in society. My goal is to make my students computer literate in order for them to be confident in their research and usage of the computer. I have access to fantastic programs, including multimedia lessons connected to their reading and math series and apps like Math Jeopardy.
My problem is that I don't have technology to use these resources. One computer does not provide access to all of my students. My goal is to get the iPad2 and use it with my document reader. This is a viable solution because we can all see and use the computer. As a class, we can research our interests and learn how to use technology safely and wisely. My students need technology access to be ready for their future!
My classroom needs to get back to the future.
