Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year, I have the privilege of working as a school counselor. My students just came back from a long hiatus due to Covid. Most of them are excited to spend time with their friends. Quite a few of them are nervous and anxious about being back in a school environment especially the 6th graders that are just starting middle school. My students care about their school environment, community, and each other.
Socio-emotional learning is at the forefront of this school year.
My students can all benefit from a lot of emotional and financial support. As a counselor working in a Title I school, the need for additional resources to benefit the emotional well-being of the community is a priority.
My Project
This project will help provide the students games to play after they eat lunch in the auditorium. Our eighth graders have lunch in the auditorium this year since there is not enough space in the cafeteria due to social distancing requirements. We want the auditorium to be a safe and healthy space for the students to eat and enjoy some games as they can't be in the normal lunch room settings.
Health and wellness are the most important thing our students need while readjusting!
Seeing so many feelings on my young people's faces inspires me to provide them with some stress relief materials to alleviate their anxiety and increase their will for learning.
