This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Hired in the middle of the school year, our classroom had no classroom computers. I want to enable my students to work with the technology that a majority of us encounter daily. It is my hope the learn and utilize the needed computer skills to survive in our society.
We are a great group of students who dream big and always want to achieve more.
We want to learn and be successful but there are lots of obstacles standing in our way. Our teacher, Ms. Nakashima, was recently hired as our new 5th grade teacher in the middle of the school year. We attend a high poverty school, where 53% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Our school provides us with nutrition, safety, and a drive for learning. Please support us by providing funds for our classroom computers so we can thoroughly research are projects. We greatly appreciate it!
My Project
Our classroom computers will be used for many activities that include researching information for projects, using online reading, writing and math programs, and using basic computer programs such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. It also gives use the opportunity to do stations in the classroom so some students work independently on the computers while our teacher gives Universal Access and support to students who need to work in small groups.
Often we are limited by the amounts of funds at home.
At school we need to have the tools that enable us to complete various projects. Also using these computers exposes us to skills that we will need to use for college and jobs such as typing and researching.
