My Students
We are a small, rural county school of 55 kids, grades Pre-K to 12. Some of our classes are split classes with more than one grade.
Most of our students receive free breakfast and lunch each day.
The school's town has only about 200 people, yet some families commute to attend our school because of our small class sizes. We have a dedicated staff that cares about all of our students. There will be 29 students (grades 2 - 5) who will benefit from this project.
My Project
First grade already has a raised garden bed. We would like to have four more raised garden beds so 2nd through 5th grade can participate as well.
We love dirt and growing things!
We teachers want our students to know where their food comes from and to appreciate farmers. There is a great sunny area on the side of our school building that would be perfect for this project. In the past, our students have used empty cans or bags of dirt put on their sides, cut open, for a make-shift garden bed. I'd like the students to experience REAL raised garden beds.
