I am Mrs. Osell, and I have been a teacher for over 12 years!
For the last two years, I took a break from the traditional k-12 classroom to work with adults and adult education at a Minneapolis nonprofit. Our work focused on making sure we were helping folks get back to economic prosperity.
Buuuut.... a teacher can never truly leave the classroom! Now, I am going back to the work of 7th and 8th grade English! While I am so, so, SO excited, I am starting from scratch in many ways- primarily with school supplies.
Students feeling welcome, safe, seen and heard in my classroom is of the highest importance to me. Part of that is setting up a welcoming and esthetically pleasing environment, and another part is making sure students have tools for success. Assuring that all students have access to books, supplies, and other things they may need is just one of many ways I can show them I am here to support them socially, emotionally, and academically. By having things like fidgets I am able to show students I value their various ways of learning. Everything on this list is curated to be what s best for my students, and what I think will help them thrive!
