This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are in an AVID kindergarten in southwestern rural Arizona. Many students come from a low economic household and cannot afford to bring basic supplies to school. The students in my classroom love learning and deserve the best on their very first year of school.

AVID kindergarten students are learning how to be successful by being organized.

I want successful students who are ready to learn. They need page protectors so the pages in their binders will last. The folders will be used to organize their writing assignments. Sentence strips will help them identify essential learning skills each day. Sandwich baggies will be used to separate items like crayons, rubber bands, markers, and more. Pencil boxes can organize desk supplies for individual students.

When my students have necessary tools and materials to organize their learning, they begin to grasp concepts. Time is not wasted and materials are not lost. Lessons like reading, writing, math, engineering, and science are taught daily because students are ready to learn. They are organized and successful!
