There is no "typical" day in my classroom. I teach at a Title I school in a low socioeconomic background community and a large ELL community. I teach general, gifted, and special education students.
In my classroom, we love to complete hands-on, real-world activities and experiments and love to work in cooperative groups.
We are learning how Social Studies and Reading impact our future. We love to learn about the world around us and relate our learning to things that happen in our everyday lives.
My Project
As students strive to become better readers, color coding the text is very helpful. The colored pencils will allow my students to make sense of the text. Students are also required to respond to the text through word processing. The paper and ink will allow students to publish their literary responses. Notes and completed work are included in the interactive notebook, but these papers often fall out. We have found that tape gets the job done so that students don’t lose their valuable papers and notes. All of these suppplies are needed by my students, but as a low income school, they are materials that parents can not afford to help supply.
